For this week’s art experience, we got to create pieces of art using Snapchat. Snapchat, for those who don’t know, is an app that allows you to take pictures and share them with friends for a maximum of ten seconds. It is also possible to draw and add your own elements to the picture which is what we concentrated on for this art experience.
What makes Snapchat a popular form of social media is that it does not make a permanent record. It is one of the only apps that allows you to send a picture and have it disapear ten seconds later. This allow the user to show who they are, what their true personality is like, and what they enjoy doing with few possible drawbacks such as employers looking on your facebook or other form of social media.
While working on this project, we were exploring the art exhibits at CSULB. Some pieces of art provided great back drops for our snap chats. As seen below, I took advantage of a great picture of a calm lake and added a little excitement to it. I was not to only person to do this as fellow classmates used a picture of Big Ben and some chairs to create a nice back drop for their art.
